The World Robot Olympiad is a global robotics competition for young people using. The World Robot Olympiad competition utilizes Lego Mindstorms manufactured by LEGO Education.[1] First held in 2004 in Singapore, it now attracts 1000 participants from 32 countries.[2]
The competition consists of two different categories. In the regular category, teams must assemble robots that can solve a specific problem. In the open category, teams must present designs for robots, based on a given theme.[3] The contest is also conducted in three different age groups: elementary, junior and senior.[3]
